What’s Your Fashion Story?
Are you expected to integrate digital assets into your documentary funding proposal? If you, your organization, office or company are planning a film, television show, radio special, Internet presentation or a interactive photo essay, the answer is yes!
The focus of this leading-edge workshop is showing how to link the many necessary parts – from inception, through creative, technology and production, to traditional or digital distribution and real world business development. These elements will make your funding proposal rise above the rest.
To create a digital documentary using a competitive, multiplatform model, your timeline could be 3 years. Also, expect that your expenses might creep to $2 Million dollars or more.
If your associates can’t relate to Digital Storytelling as a genre, try Multimedia, Transmedia, Webisodes, Branded Content or even Branded Entertainment. We offer these and many subcategories in the Thornhill News Digital Storytelling seminar.
I hope to see you at the proposal seminar.

I think you see the connections. As we swam through all of these amazing resources, we did not intend to overstep our bounds.
Many of these sites, contacts and articles are copyrighted materials and we certainly respect the rights of all creative people. This is just our first step. We intend to get in touch with many that we have certainly just peeped. Perhaps there is a documentary in there somewhere!
TNDS NEWS brings us into the highly competitive world of periodical publishing. Our print is modest and designed to prepare for electronic next steps.
After completing the next narrative, we can start imagining a digital tablet version. We might even have tablets and apps as a regular part of our presentation.
Please let us know if you have ideas for broader distribution

Series and Special Events
Our Thornhill News Digital Storytelling crew takes information from the film, television, radio and photography documentary worlds and watches the applications in advertising, promotions, education, social media, Webisodes and branded entertainment for new methods, skills and technology.
Our “Proposal Seminar” was created to serve the persons, groups or projects that are interested in broadcast (television and radio) series and specials. Now there are market categories. They are: Personal and Family Stories, Television, Film, Fashion and International.
After our first Los Angeles seminars and subsequent meeting with filmmakers, we added points of view and key information for those persons creating documentaries for theatrical release.
And further research has taught us that there is a much broader market than we had initially prepared for. So just in case, we’re splitting the market for our research and news reporting.
We now have a few new categories under Thornhill News Digital Storytelling research. These are: Personal, Fine Art, Community, Non-Commercial, Education, Civic/Government, Documentary, Film, Television, Radio, Photography, Entertainment, Advertising and Corporate.
And even more good news. We have entered into a partnership with the Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce to bring a full-day workshop to the island. Our date is January 13, 2012. The spectacular location is the Maui Research & Technology Center in Kihei. Special Events are also being considered for Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami, Phoenix and Detroit.
And stay tuned for an avalanche of details, invitations and outlines as we begin to flex our collaboration muscles. It seems that other organizations have found great value in adding Thornhill News Digital Storytelling to their agenda at important events. We are but a small part in their effort, but we are very excited about joining the mission.
Thornhill News Digital Storytelling will be on stage for a presentation at Local Sightings, a film festival for the northwest, September 30-October 6, 2011 - presented by The Northwest Film forum. We’re breathlessly waiting for our time slot. It will be October 1st or 2nd.
Subscribers
As a nod to our friends and supporters, there will be a season subscription program announced in advance of the rise in individual event prices. Be sure to get on the wait list.
With creative leaders, an explosion of tools and a new consumer interest (probably brought on by social media) in telling personal stories, documentaries appear to be the next big media boom. We will help make that happen.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Team Building
Interviews have started for the “Creative Team.” In legacy media, digital media and even in digital devices, there are so many capable individuals and services to choose from.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Researchers & Writers
At Thornhill News we depend on deep research to guide our development and growth. Over the years, each of our business components has created a slice of our total awareness through constant investigation, ongoing research, production and timely reviews.
Until now, the constant vigil, the curiosity and the sharing has been beneficial, yet informal. However, a new product has given us all a look at ongoing research, constant updates and discovery as a central theme.
That product is Thornhill News Digital Storytelling. We are looking for qualified partners to expand our research to build this initiative.
The First Research Categories:
· Marketplace - Where to present seminars
· Industry Research - Companies involved
· Product Development - Seminars, The Blog, THE NEWS
· Customer Satisfaction - What to you want from our products?
· Digital Media Devices - Smartphones, eReaders and tablets – as well as Platforms, Companies, and Applications
· Proprietary Product Development -
· Distribution - Opportunities For customers, Market expansion
· Design Continuity - The Overview
· Money Sources - Opportunities For Customers
· Successes - Share the excitement
With the first full Thornhill News Design Review in January 2009, we saw the advantage of having all aspects of this research-based model kick around concepts with other players. From that came the Thornhill Design Laboratory, a series of workshops, seminars and a universe of research friends.
This October, we will convene a similar gathering in Seattle to review our complete Thornhill News Digital Storytelling initiative. Stay tuned for the date, time, location and announcement of a special guest.
If this sounds like an entity your company, campus, office or organization could partner with, let’s have a discussion about the possibilities. Because we expect to have research partners from across the country, we can start with e-mail at thornhillnews@hotmail.com or I can send our current outline.
Narrowing the candidates to actual deals will be a harrowing task. Have you inquired? Not yet! What are you waiting for?
If you are fortunate enough to be in the neighborhood, you can join our table at the every-Wednesday Happy Hour conversation at 5:00 PM in Seattle, Washington.

Business Development
All roads lead to revenue. Our strategy is sound, we watch the marketplace carefully and we are now engaged in an upgrade that will take hard look at our competitive posture and our product. The new General Plan will be push many buttons to move our ambitions forward.
Partners
We expect our partners to be active. Each brings a special qualification to the game. Each must be, or become, a great communicator.
The Partner Brief - To make sure that we can be held accountable by our new partners, there is a 16-page Partner Brief available. If you are waiting for an opportunity to be considered as a candidate for partnering or in any element of business development, request a copy of this preliminary statement.
Which brings us to the last point in this introduction. I am providing this advance notice to be sure that you are prepared to discuss partnering. The doors are fully open to those companies who have asked about partnerships or sponsoring.
Contract candidates in these cities will be very pleased with a special section of the Plan: Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Maui, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Francisco / San Jose and Seattle.
Sponsor Relations
A sponsor relationship is a very delicate balance between costs to the sponsoring entity and the benefits they receive in return. At this point, our sponsor fees are minimal. Yet, we can provide major exposure through the digital media industry, the creative communities and to our participants.
Will we have a sponsor for the overall series, or will it be wiser for all parties to take seminars or published products on one at a time? We’re certainly open for that discussion.
We would be happy to talk with sponsorship candidates at any time. The sponsoring entity can be involved in research, the seminars, the blog, our printed weekly news booklet, hospitality and cross-promotions.
Benefits to the sponsor will continue to grow with the project. Our greatest return, in exchange for sponsor dollars, is participation in the growth of Thornhill News Digital Storytelling and exposure to our audiences through the related events, media and campaigns.
Business Management
Project management, administration, accounting, bookkeeping and facilities will each play a large part in building our success. We are expecting that the talent needed to create the enterprise-wise General Plan and the proposed product development will come through contracted businesses.

The Thornhill Design Laboratory
The lab has begun a first Client Services (element 5) assignment and blocked out the plan for a second. Each of these “clients” is within the Thornhill News family. This is safe because we don’t have an outside client to respond to, but not secure because the evaluation model is with folks and partners that we know well. However, it is a start. Our duties usually relate to product development. We will build case studies and recommend long-term strategies. Our compensation is based on retainers or revenue sharing from the outside clients. We bring experience and a great team to this process.
The assignments:
1. Build a workplan for the Thornhill News Digital Storytelling initiative; present a first review and calendar for the next year. In the “product development” section, the TNDS Proposal Seminar inventory is broken into series and special events.
Special events are scheduled for:
a. October 1, 2011 at Local Sightings the Northwest Film Forum’s premier showcase of Northwest filmmaking.
b. January 13, 2012 at The Maui Research & Technology Center, Kihei, Hawaii
2. Build a presentation using the new Thornhill News “Portfolio” publication as the cornerstone. The first issue is a brief roster – presenting the current inventory of Thornhill News.
Portfolio will be the center of attention at a meeting on Saturday, January 14 at or near the Maui Research & Technology Center in Maui County, Hawaii.
3. Confirm the research, production and distribution for the Thornhill News Radio Show audio/radio documentary special. We will offer “A Tribute To The Rose” on October 6, 2011. This is historic. Our initial date for the premiere of this 60 minute salute was October 6, 2001. Development of the program had taken five years. Our excitement was interrupted by the tragedy of September 11, 2001 – known as 9/11. And now, ten years later…
We’re back to celebrate and to pay tribute to the rose, the queen of flowers, named the official floral emblem of the United States on October 6, 1986 in legislation signed by President Ronald Reagan. The rose is the official flower of other places – including New York State and the island of Maui.
As with Portfolio, the Thornhill News Radio Show will have support from every component, element, collaboration and sponsor of the enterprise Thornhill News.
